"BharatNet" is a nationally significant project implemented through partnerships between states and the private sector to develop infrastructure aimed at providing accessible networks across the country. The project's goal is to deliver on-demand broadband connectivity ranging from 2 Mbps to 20 Mbps at affordable rates to all households and institutions, thus advancing the vision of Digital India.
As part of this initiative, MahaIT is exerting its best efforts to achieve last-mile connectivity through Wi-Fi or other broadband technologies in all Gram Panchayats in the state of Maharashtra. This effort aims to enable access to e-governance, e-health, e-education, e-banking, internet, and various other services in rural areas. Furthermore, the project's scope has recently expanded to include all inhabited villages beyond Gram Panchayats.
